Best Songs of 2012 - Part 1

It's that time of year again - my favorite songs of 2012 and in no particular order. Dum, dum dum! First Aid Kit - "Blue" Two immensely talented Swedish girls


The Shins - "Simple Song"


Fun - "Some Nights" I always have one obligatory huge hit on my list and this one is it. It's a guilty pleasure, turn the radio up loud and drive really fast song.


Beach House - "Wild"


Maximo Park - "The Undercurrents" It wouldn't be a countdown for me without a Maximo Park song :)

The best of mtvU this morning

I often watch mtvU as I'm getting ready in the morning and here were two standout videos. The first is "Heartbeat" from JJAMZ which is an innocently retro dance song but juxtaposed with the Twin Peaks-esque storyline and art direction, it's downright creepy.

The second I adored was "QueenS" by THEESatisfaction which has perfectly old school lyrics and a slinky sound. And can I just say I love how these ladies dress? So-phunk-tication!

Some hits and misses of May, 2012

Hits (no expectations that these would be good, but loving them just the same). And sort of obsessed with these songs at the moment: Beach House - "Myth"
Daughn Gibson - "Tiffany Lou" Some misses recently (at least in my opinion) have been the new Kimbra and Norah Jones album. I had such high expectations but really haven't been listening to either.

Another Addictive App - Draw Something

I'm in the middle of moving so I haven't been able to post for awhile. But when I need a break from packing, I'm playing Draw Something, a Pictionary-like game from OMG Pop. The game is simple to play - draw a word and have your opponent (partner?) guess it. But with words like Snooki and Bieber, the results can be pretty funny. Here are a few that I found posted on Facebook.

Vidrhythm App gets an A+

I've been playing around with the free Vidrhythm App and made this birthday video for my friend. Be warned, once you download you may spend hours making thematic videos highlighting panda puppies, weaves, Nickelback and sausage:
