I'm a huge fan of rockumentaries and have watched quite a few. I'll watch almost any music documentary, even Katy Perry's or The Spice Girls (I draw the line at Justin Bieber though). So needless to say I'm quite excited for The Stone Roses movie Made of Stone, directed by Shane Meadows of This is England fame. The movie's debut was on June 5 in the UK and Ireland. Not sure of the US release date:

Big Louise - Magnifying Glass
My sister wrote this song so I can brag about how good it is. It's an old Big Louise song from the early 90s. Enjoy:

Threads - BBC 1984
In the same vein as my last post, another free movie to watch online is "Threads" from 1984. It's not a super uplifting movie but I'd argue that it's more stark and shocking than the big budget Hollywood disaster movies because of the lack of special effects and the abundance of small, gruesome details. It's also timely with all of the nuclear war rhetoric in the news lately. The YouTube description is appropriate given that our current state of cable, on demand and digital offerings of every type of entertainment was not available:
"Threads was aired on 1984, one Sunday night at 9pm to an unsuspecting UK TV audience, it single handedly put the nation off the nuclear war effort and was then quietly removed from the archives until 2002. Threads redefines the word grim and is hard to imagine what sort of impact this would have had on its viewers given its from an era in TV when there was only 4 channels and a Mary Whitehouse mentality towards censorship."

DiG! it
I stumbled across this documentary, began to watch and was immediately hooked. Movie description: Dig! is a documentary film directed by Ondi Timoner, and produced by Timoner, Vasco Nunes and David Timoner. Compiled from seven years of footage, it contrasts the developing careers and love--hate relationship of the bands The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre and the bands' respective frontmen Courtney Taylor-Taylor and Anton Newcombe. It won the Documentary Grand Jury Prize at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. It was the '90s people! Two great bands feuding against the backdrop of drugs, tours, and grunge. Plus you can watch the ENTIRE movie online. Hellz yeah!

Best Songs of 2012 Part Two
Better late than never:
Ellie Goulding - "Anything Could Happen"
Everything in Ellie Goulding's 2012 album, Halcyon is great, but this song is a standout for its electronica-meets-Arcade-Fire rock anthem quality
Haim - "Don't Save Me" Really looking forward to more of Haim. They bring the California girl group Bangles essence up-to-date.
Julia Holter - "Goddess Eyes II"
Lana Del Rey - "Ride" No hatin' Lana keeps it interesting and unique and "Ride" is no exception. No one can argue that she isn't compelling to listen to or watch
Hot Chip - "Night and Day" Crazy catchy song and Reggie Watts in the video. Need I say more?
